Annually, the County will recognize and promote an outstanding farm family who best exemplifies the value of the family farm showing leadership in the agricultural industry and being active in the community.
Eligibility for the award:
- 75% of the members of the Family Farm Unit resides within the boundaries of Beaver County
- The Farm Family Unit derives at least 50% of its total income from the farming operation
- Increases awareness of agriculture through active participation in agricultural organizations (eg. Agricultural Society, 4-H, etc.)
- Maintains a high standard in its agricultural business
- Promotes the agriculture community through involvement and rural citizenship
- Is proactive in new agricultural technologies
- Acts as a role model to the rural community.
Nominated families are first reviewed by the Ag Service Board which then will recommend a nominee to Council for approval.
Nominees who are successful in receiving the Farm Family Award will be recognized publicly, have their name added to the Farm Family Plaque in the Council chambers, and will receive a gift worth up to $500.
