Planning & Development

The Planning & Development Department plays a central role in the use and development of land and buildings within the County. The Department provides services to residents, Council and neighbouring communities in the following areas:

  • Advice and guidance on development, subdivision, and other land use planning matters
  • Review, process, and issuance of development permits
  • Review, process and approval of subdivisions
  • Process applications for road closure, MDP and LUB amendments
  • Issue compliance certificates
  • Address complaints and non-compliance relating to land use

Please Note

Issuance of a Development Permit does not excuse the applicant from satisfying all other applicable, municipal, provincial and/or federal requirements. It is the Applicant/Registered Owner's responsibility to ensure any further permits are obtained prior to construction (building and safety codes permits are typically required for ALL development permits). If construction is commenced prior to obtaining building and safety codes permits, penalties will be applied.
